KuwaRef is a data-driven civic platform by Data Determinics, empowering over 28,950 Kenyan youth to make evidence-based decisions.
KuwaRef is a youth-centric campaign organised and managed by Data Determinics — a youth-focused organisation dedicated to enabling the citizenry to make informed, data-backed decisions.
Whether electoral or civil, every decision made through our platform is evidence-based. We believe that data literacy is civic power, and that every young Kenyan deserves access to verified, unbiased information.
We have worked with more than 28,950 youths across more than 5 universities in the Republic of Kenya.
Every claim published on KuwaRef passes through a three-step verification process. First, our Research Pillar sources the original claim from public statements, government reports, or media coverage and traces it back to a primary, citable source — official gazettes, KNBS data, ministry reports, or audited financial statements. Second, our editorial team cross-references the claim against at least two independent sources before assigning a preliminary status. Third, we open the claim to community voting, where registered referees weigh in with their own verdict based on the published evidence. A claim's "Verified" or "Debunked" badge reflects our editorial team's official determination — the community agreement percentage is a separate, transparent signal of public sentiment, never a substitute for evidence-based verification.
